Memories of Yesterday
Back in November of 2005 a manilla envelope arrived in the mail. Inside was a short note. The note read,
I found this paper in the garage of a home that was to be demolished a few years ago. I know the woman who lived there was very elderly. This was in Palo Alto, CA in 2000. Enjoy the paper, -Rick Hartmann.Inside was a yellowed 8.5 x 11 document, 18 pages in length; the Stillman Valley High School Newspaper from the class of 1927-1928.
Somehow this newspaper had made it's way back to Stillman Valley after many years away. Now you can see it for yourself and read a few familiar names as well as some that have long since passed from memory.
Click the picture below to see a bigger picture. Do not click the picture if you are on a slow internet connection. All of the files are very large and will take a long time to download on a slower connection.
Stillman Bank has an ad in the paper of course:

Most people probably recognize the building since it still stands today.
If you have a fast connection, you can download the entire student newspaper. Select one of the following links, but be sure that you have a fast internet connection. If you don't, stop by the Village Hall and Anne can show you the paper in person. You can even have a copy to take home with you.
All of the Image Files Zipped into an Archive (6.4 mb)
An Adobe Acrobat file - not zipped (1.7 mb)
The front page of the newspaper. (216 kb)
I hope you enjoy them. -Jim Mays
