Informational Meeting on October 7th
The Village of Stillman Valley would like to express it's thanks to all area residents who attended and participated in the public meeting on October 7th to provide information regarding the proposed ethanol plant. The meeting raised many important issues which we hope to address in future meetings.
As in this case, all meetings will be publicly posted so that everyone who wishes to attend may do so.
The economic health of the Village is important. We encourage future development and will carefully evaluate the impact on our future before allowing it to move forward. The input of our residents facilitates this process.

Exelon Awards Grant to Stillman Valley
Exelon recently awarded a grant of $2500 to the Village of Stillman Valley for completion of a comprehensive plan. We believe it is important to consider how we'd like Stillman Valley to look in twenty years and the funding of this plan will help us to do that.

Pictured are Jim Fox of Exelon, Sue Carpenter, Co-Chairman of the Economic Advisory Commission of Stillman Valley, and Jim Mays, Village President.
The Economic Advisory Commission worked hard at pursuing this grant and the Village of Stillman Valley would like to express it's thanks for their hard work.

Ethanol in Stillman Valley's Future?
The Village of Stillman Valley is pleased to work with the Glendenning family and American Ethanol to bring an ethanol plant to our area. We believe it has the potential to bring a positive economic impact to the community in many ways.
As representatives of all of the residents of Stillman Valley we are committed to making sure that this project is one that will serve the public interest. To that end, we will be scheduling a public meeting to provide a forum for asking questions and receiving information from the ethanol company and the current owners of the proposed location.
Additionally, we are interested in hearing from our consituents and learning as much as possible about this development so that we can make the best informed decision possible.
We will put out a public announcement as soon as we get the date of the meeting confirmed.

Village of Stillman Valley Initiates Eminent Domain Proceedings
The following is the text of a press release issued in connection with a lawsuit filed by the village. The press release itself may be downloaded at the link following the text.
On September 4, 2006 the Village of Stillman Valley filed suit against Ms. Joan Glendenning to initiate eminent domain proceedings for approximately 10 acres of property adjacent to the village limits. The Village of Stillman Valley, as represented by the Board of Trustees and Village President, wish to make it known that this action is being undertaken reluctantly and only as a last resort in order to replace it's aging wastewater treatment plant.
Pressure from the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency including the very real possibility of large fines and expensive mandates have left the village with no choice but to pursue this course of action. After several years of exploring alternatives and attempting to negotiate with Ms. Glendenning, the village is compelled to act at this time.
It is the position of The Village of Stillman Valley that a negotiated settlement providing just compensation for Ms. Glendenning is preferable. However, any additional delay in moving forward on this issue neglects the best interests of the residents of the village.
