This letter is to inform you of road work to be performed by the Illinois Department of Transportation on Highway 72 A.K.A. Roosevelt St. through the Village of Stillman Valley and to the East. The Village received notification and the Official Traffic Plan from I.D.O.T. on Friday 08/18/2017. This project is scheduled to begin the week of 08/28/2017 and continue through November 2017. The project will begin at our Western border and span to Interstate 39.
The largest impact to the Village will occur during the first week of 08/28/2017-09/1/2017. During this week, most likely on Tuesday 08/29/2017 and Wednesday 08/30/2017, RT. 72 will be reduced to One (1) lane during working hours and all North/South intersections through town will be closed to traffic. During this interruption, local traffic will need to detour East and West on Main St., Pershing St., and Grant St. to access or cross RT 72 via Meridian Rd. or Rural/Stillman Rd.
During this time, garbage pickup will not be interrupted but the Village has granted Moring Disposal permission to begin Routes along RT 72 at 6:00 A.M. and asks that all residents that have pickup along the highway have their refuse to the curb by 5:00 A.M. on Thursday 08/31/2017.
During the construction your caution and cooperation will be appreciated.
