The Village of Stillman Valley is closely monitoring COVID-19 and the Shelter In Place Order issued by Governor JB Pritzker. As the situation evolves, please know that the Village will continue to provide essential public services.
The Village of Stillman Valley will prioritize the health and safety of our residents and employees above all else. We also understand that our residents and businesses count on a high level of service and support from our team. All emergency services will continue as always from our Water and Sewer Departments. Our Village President, Village Board, and Staff are continually in communication with one another as we realize this is an unprecedented and fluid situation.
To ensure the safety and well-being of our residents and employees, Village Hall and all Village owned buildings will be closed to the public starting on Monday, March 23, 2020. These closures will be in effect until further notice. Staff will still be available to conduct Village services by phone, email, or by appointment, as necessary.
Additionally, please take note of the following:
• Please bag all garbage, except recycling, until further notice.
Village Hall will not be open on Monday night, March 23, 2020 for the regularly scheduled Village Board meeting. Village Staff will continue to monitor the situation for public meetings as posted on the Village’s website and on the front door of Village Hall, though there will be no in-person Village services.
The Village Board meets the second and fourth Monday of each month and as such, regularly scheduled meetings. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic our nation is facing, Governor Pritzker has amended Open Meetings Act restrictions to allow members of our Village Board, along with those throughout the State, to attend meetings and vote remotely for the duration of the Gubernatorial Disaster Proclamation.
Village Staff will be working to ensure the continued delivery of important services, such as building permits and will communicate alternate service delivery methods as information becomes available. Services such as utility bill payment can all be completed through the Village’s website, via Village drop-box located to the right of the front door of Village Hall or by mail – Village of Stillman Valley, PO Box 127, Stillman Valley, IL 61020. If you need assistance with services such as processing a payment online or via mail, please contact Village Hall at (815) 645-2200. Additionally, most Village forms can be sent to you via email or the United States Postal Service.
The Village will continue to reassess conditions and provide updates to the community on facility closures and public meetings. Please continue to check the Village’s website, the electronic sign, and follow the Village on social media channels for future updates. Please check with other governmental entities, such as the school district about potential closures or cancelations.
These decisions were made based upon guidance from the CDC, which recommends limiting in-person interactions to prevent exposure and spread of COVID-19. As always, the Village’s top priority is to promote the health and safety of our customers, employees and community.
